Our Day in Denver

I've had a love affair with cities for as long as I can remember.
I used to PINE over the panoramic posters that they'd sell at Crossroads Mall of different city skylines. (I wanted NYC first...duh. Then I think Chicago and Denver.. :)

I unabashedly come alive more beneath the big buildings of a city than the mountains...sorry if that offends you. I just love it. I love the possibility that a city holds. And I love being where the action is...I don't like missing out (contrary to the fact that I've established that I'm an "extrovertedly introvert.")

Last weekend I went out with some friends to see a show on Saturday night, then turned right back around the next am to see our friend Ali dedicate her little sweetie girl Avery. Two  trips to "the big city" in one 24 hour period...woa. Living large for this suburban mom! ;)
It was fun to have a camera in tow to capture all of Denver (Denver Community Church and the new Union Station) on film.

First stop...Ali and Matt's church!

..."Mr. Bobby" also goes here!

Matt led worship :)

Then it was time for baby dedications...!

(the older I get, the more I'm turning into my dad in respects to photography. I used to be so embarrassed to be up front with my camera. Now I was creeping from seat to seat with my giant flash. I hope that Ali wasn't rethinking her decision to give an open invite to us for this... :)

What were these parents looking at to their left you may ask?! Well...THIS CUTENESS OF COURSE!

Holy mackerel...this is Benjamin and his buddy Adele. #scenestealers #inagoodway #areyoukiddingme

The "oohs and ahhhs" could be heard round the sanctuary. Pure adorableness.

This is the face of strength.
Avery was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis after she was born. Ali wrote an eloquent post about it here:

and I know she'd love you to read it because it's her aim to raise awareness to this awful disease.

Of course the message of these lyrics are what we declare for all of us...and especially sweet Avery Virginia.

It was a blessing to be there for this great service. And Ben and I said, it was refreshing and fun to see a different church service and be united in our collective love for Jesus.

Then it was off to our adventure at Union Station...

Mimi knows her mama so well...she said "look mom! A coffee statue! With steam!" She was so excited about it :)

We love Snooze. Everyone does. It's like saying "puppies are cute." Normally we go to the ft. collins one and get there before the college kids are even stumbling home (there ARE benefits to waking up at 5 am). But today it was a Sunday at 10:30. There was NO chance to eat here...but it was fun to take a picture at least.

The beautiful new terminal

We were weary travelers. With a 2 1/2 hour wait at Snooze we were hungry and grumpy...

But just when we thought all hope was lost, we (in a miracle upon miracles) stumbled right into the Kitchen Next Door as it was opening (read: EMPTY). We almost cried with relief and followed the trendy hostess/server named McKinley to an outside table.

It was warm outside, there were board games, gluten free bread and mimosas...I'm pretty sure I felt like I was in heaven.

After eating the kids just ran around :)

God bless America for Sundays like this!

The day was finished off by a long nap and then more running around outside. Life is good. xoxo
