Second Grade Singing Concert

On Thursday Mimi had her Second Grade singing concert at school. We were so excited to go! (Especially because it was kicking off spring break! YAY!)

But first...wrestling.

 Look at that cutie!

And these cuties!

The kids did all the Americana classics..."I've Been Workin' on the Railroad" and "Grand Ol' Flag" ...songs WE sang in school. It was awesome...

And this little guy, a fellow little bro, kept Bode busy during the performance.

Then they finished with a classic "Whip and A Nae Nae"

We have an awesome music teacher!

Then, the Cha Cha Slide.

Mimi's fan club!

xoxo! So proud of our girl!

That Time I Got Engaged...Again.

Everyone knows I love Valentines Day. (Actually, everyone knows I love pretty much everything...)

But I really love Valentine's Day. And it's Ben and I's wedding anniversary.

(look! Our friends even put a sign on our door!)

This man is my heart. I remember running and praying for my future husband when I had just become a Christian and was in high school. I prayed that I'd have a solid family...that had been in my heart as a desire for a long long time.

I see that God gave me Ben and it's been the best present I've ever received. Any chance to see each other with fresh eyes and re-engage through the mundane of life is a good move for sure. Anniversaries help that.

(p.s. our kids are a pretty great gift too...Mimi's valentine to Bode)

(They both got Beenie boos from each other. Bode's was eaten by Winnie in record time).

Thanks to Nana we were able to have date night at the Roost, complete with steak and champagne and high heels.

And look, our check came in this book. Perfect.

I'll save the privacy of Ben and I's sweet moment, but let's just say he pulled me into a sweetly lit courtyard in downtown Longmont and read to me from a piece of paper where he typed out many sweet things. Then gave me a ring.

You see, I've been wearing a band for our whole marriage, but we traded my engagement ring in to buy Ben's band. We combined a diamond from his grandma with my actual setting from my real engagement ring and boom! A new ring! I felt loved and special (even though I helped in the process). I really felt like I was proposed to  in a super romantic way. xoxo

I can't deny it. Diamonds really ARE a girl's best friend.  xo

Bode Spring Soccer

Hi.

I haven't blogged for awhile. I used to feel insecure that somehow I was able to blog a lot, while other moms lamented that they didn't blog more. I used to tell them that it wasn't that I wrote and posted pictures out of obligation, but more it stemmed from a deep need I had to reflect, collect and compile my family's events. Blogging was like oxygen (much like journaling also).

But, here we are, a month since my last post. I think that the frequency of my blogging (or not blogging) is directly related to our life happening inside our house versus outside. When the kids were little there was lots of time inside our house. I wasn't working, they weren't going to school. There was lots of blogging. (Probably because there was LOTS of time for introspection. Probably too much if you ask me. AND, when your day consists of lots of things, but nothing really to show for it..cleaning, the house gets dirty, feeding people, cleaning up and doing it again, I needed the blog to give me a sense of completion and proof of effort put in; something tangible if you will).

Now, our life consists of a lot outside our home. I'm working at the preschool and doing photography and the kids go to school. And also have dance/soccer/friends etc..

SO. Not lots of blogging.

Yet recently, I feel so off-kilter. Blame the winter, blame sicknesses that we've dealt with...not sure. But I do know that I exist for creative things. And I've had zero photography jobs that make me come alive and also no blogging.

So here I find myself back to blogging. To create. To reflect. To organize my thoughts and slow life down a bit.

I give you...Bode Robert, Soccer Stud:
