A Sunny Day on Pearl Street

Last week we went to have a sunny Pearl Street lunch with Daddy.

Bode caught his am nap in the car, so as not to cut that short, Mimi and I (and a sleeping Bode) drove up to Flagstaff...where I could let my little naturalist get out and look at some wildflowers and collect new sticks.

Then it was off to see Daddy!

Mimi even made a friend in the fountain :)

Answers

After taking these pictures the other day, it made me realize why Henry pees on our floor.

Don't be fooled by this angel face...he's not without blame either.
No matter how astonished he looks.

Poor Hennie.
(although, he actually didn't seem to mind it. I didn't wait long to rescue him).

Back Story:

Yesterday as we all were hanging out in Mimi's room Mimi said,
"Mom, since we don't have a girl cat, can Henry be a girl?"

(this is after she called him "Streganona" because he had a bow on his neck. Her train of logic: Streganona is a girl, so Henry with a bow will be called Streganona.")

"Sure" I said.

"Okay, Henry, you're a girl now!!!"

(as I'm typing this post, she's literally in her room calling him Streganona right now)

Poor, tolerant kitty.

Well, at least he gets lots of hugs!

Although, something tells me that these may not be the kind of hugs Hennie would like.

Oh Henry.
This stage of life is a little hard for us all, isn't it?

We love you!

Sun Hats and Water

Here are fun pictures from a recent hang out with the DeCola crew...

There's nothing like the freedom to come over to a friend's house with your two kids and leave a trail of fish crackers, scattered toys and wet kids behind.
Thanks Tiff.

As you can see...a little fun with water bottles...

...was just a gateway to

THIS MAYHEM!

Silly kids.

Hooray for sunny days and water fights.

And hooray for babies who can't turn on the hose..

...yet.

The Great Bath Time Escape

Bode crawls his fastest when he's naked and unrestrained.
He's like a skinny little spider monkey.

I literally have to keep him pinned down while I'm changing his diaper so he doesn't crawl away.

This was "free naked time" before bath one evening:

Artist Blooming

Mimi drew this the other day.

It's Daddy and Baby Benjamin Larson (who we had just hung out with, without Ben. I think it's cute that she drew them together...probably because of the shared name :).

Now comes the "Mom Gush" moment...

I was SO SUPER impressed. I see Ben's spiky hair, his eyes and his mouth, even fingers. And Benjamin is in his baby carrier, just like he was when we were with him.

The impact of this work of art was greater because I've seriously never seen her draw like this before. Normally she scribbles half-heartedly on a piece of paper and hands it to me. There's no forms, or nothing that resembles anything.

So to have her bust out this likeness was pretty cool.

Mimi's Idea of Play Clothes..

The other day I tried to explain the idea of "play clothes" to Mimi.

After preschool one day, she charged outside in her bright pink tights. Considering how hard (and muddy) her playing gets these days, I asked her to find some "play clothes" to wear before she made mud pies.

"What are play clothes Mom?" She asked.

"Well, you know, like jeans or shorts or leggings."

"Or SKIRTS?!"

Just as I was about to okay a skirt (she owns about five thousand cotton skirts), she came around the corner with THIS:
(with the "Or a SKIRT?!" talking bubble still hanging in the air)

About the least sensible "skirt" (if you can call it that!) ever.

Classic.

"Please MOM!!!"

Her face when I said she could!

I think I figured out why she likes to play outside in skirts..

Because if she does, she's instantly ready for a photo shoot at any moment!
