We Did It!

So Mimi and I made a grand trip to Boston to visit our dear friends The Swansons last week. It was just her and I with four total plane trips...needless to say I was on the anxious side about everything. However it was very worth it for us to see our friends and introduce them to Mimi so I took the plunge and flew with a newborn by myself. Actually, she did SO well! After one flight I even was checking to see if she was breathing because she was so out!(That's even with no tylenol!) We had a great time with the Swansons and even got to be there for Sam's birthday. Now I feel like Mimi and I can get through anything (like her first shots today, for example!). Here are some pictures from our trip:

So, the east coast seems to be the only place that you can find Dunkin' Donuts and Ben and I developed a love affair with them during our trips to Boston. People go there for the coffee and I like that they have iced DECAF coffee (with lots and lots of cream and sugar)...okay, if you can't tell, I am not a "real" coffee drinker! This was the first "dunkies" I saw so I had to take a picture for Ben back home (and of course treat myself to an iced coffee).

This is what Mimi looked like after our flight into Boston. I was extremely elated and relieved; I couldn't stop taking pictures of her! You would've thought that we had just climbed Mt. Everest with the way I was congratulating her (and myself!)

This is Abby Swanson, who I started to babysit when she was eight!!! She is now going to celebrate her SIXTEENTH birthday this week! She was so sweet and great with Mimi...I desperately wanted her to come back with us and be OUR babysitter!
(Also, being that Abby is a teenager, she has a busy social life. However she stayed home lots to be with us. We were very glad and thankful for that.)

I prayed hard about this trip and called on some sweet friends for advice before we left. Thankfully we made it there safely (without any major emotional damage on Mimi's or my part) and had a wonderful trip. Good thing too, because in a few days we're off to another cross-country adventure (but this time with Ben) for Grandpa B.T. and Oma's wedding in Captiva, Florida. Stay tuned..."where in the world is Mimi Harper Turrill?" (to the tune of Carmen San Diego)

The Best Kind of Playdate of All

Mimi and I had coffee with Lindsay and McKenna Boyle today. McKenna was born a month before Mimi. I really enjoyed getting to "mom talk" with Lindsay...(and the girls seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves too!)

The Goldilocks Dilemna

But the third hat that mom tried on me was JUST RIGHT. (kind of ironic that it's a bear hat, huh?)

Fall is here! The weather has turned a bit chilly here in Colorado, so I got some hats out that I thought Mimi could wear. We really went through this process of finding the "just right" hat and I had to share...how funny are these pictures? She such a good sport. I hope that she gets to see all of these pictures from the blog someday. I think that I may start my own business making books from all of the blog entries that people compose...talk to me if you're interested.

A Day in the Life of Mimi

I wake up...


Have an early morning photo shoot...


Get dressed (see pictures)

Go to Grandpa B.T. and Oma's house to show off my outfit (all my idea of course)

Try not to look cute and not too uncomfortable as I pose for another picture!


Head to Kari and Jeff's wedding and hang out with my greatest fan, Ash

Get passed around a little more...


Then I have to babysit my parents to make sure they don't do anything to embarrass themselves...


I listen to my mom be bossy...

Then it's off to bed after a fun time at my first wedding. I have to try to get as much sleep as I can so that I have enough energy the next day to watch football with my Dad:
