My Life Lately

Um. Hi. 

Tuesday I was hired to take pictures of an amazing event: it was a Grand Opening of a new housing unit for people who otherwise would be homeless...

It was pretty incredible. And intimidating.

I had a front row seat to see the Governor and Mayor and an awesome Councilman. 

It stretched me. I'm still not sure how/if to post the pics, but if I can I will. 

Until then...

AHH! A real news girl. Who REALLY watched me walk back to my minivan. My illusion of being a professional, city-dwelling photographer busted.

When the Broncos Win...

Every daring girl needs a partner in crime. *

I desperately wanted to go to the Broncos Victory Parade (because I have a bad case of FOMO: Fear of Missing Out). And for a self-proclaimed anti-social person it's an oddity that I'd want to go jam myself in a city with a million people...but..?!

I also can't resist tradition and memory-making, so I guess they cancelled out. 

Anyways, when I knew that Anne was game to go to the parade we made it happen. And we're glad we did. We came home exhausted and weary and happy, without regrets for not going for it.

Here's our day.

*let it be known that my other partner in crime who resides in Denver, who is game to scalp tickets to a JT concert and pay anything to see Taylor Swift ALSO went to the parade. By herself. With two kids. The draw for those with FOMO was strong. Wish we could've met up and joined forces.  :)*

First we had to jam on a light rail that was waaaayyy too crowded. In these situations, people near you can either become your best buddy or enemy; we met both. (Hey exasperated twenty-something girl: I just wished QUADRUPLETS on you and that there'd be an instance when you needed to take public transportation. You're welcome).

 

But before that...I had free hands to take "real" pictures...

Josh! Our fearless leader and only dad (which means he had to carry my children at times as well).

Hey, remember that line we waited in as we frantically watched the light rail fill up?!? And then we found out that it was FREE that day?!? (Thanks for the sign Denver ;)

After a day filled with friends, fun, adventure, a parade, lunch, riding on a train and ending in ice cream I asked Bode what his favorite part was. Without hesitation he replied: "playing on the phone." I am KILLING it in the parent game.

THIS kid however, is turning out GREAT. You've never met a sweeter, more patient fifth grader (who is also taller than me).

You know when the Queen said from atop her castle, "let them eat cake!" That was these people from atop their party bus.

 Bode was working his charm HARD to get on that bus though...

At this point we said, "Want to walk in the same direction that these MILLION people are walking, or should we go eat lunch?" Man, I picked the right crew. We chose lunch.

The day was a success! xo

(and contrary to what the pictures show, Bode's screen time went down by 80% that day. So for that reason alone, it was worth it. Even though none of the other parts of the day were memorable for him apparently).
