Preschool

I'm part of a staff team again.

Sort of.

I'm starting to teach preschool!!! It all sort of happened fast, but a two day a week position opened up at a really fabulous, magical, warm preschool, and I couldn't pass it up. Plus Bode gets to come with me!

But I'm actually not going to start teaching until October, when their enrollment necessitates another teacher. (which was fine with me...I like slow transitions!)

It's all been a little out of body for me. Maybe because my energies are divided...I'm still happily busy with photography..and Mimi's budding kindergarten career, and playing "backee ball" with Bode on the trampoline, etc..

This job isn't the only thing on my plate.
But I know it will be a great fit and I'm excited about it. Last night was a parent orientation that I went to as both a new teacher AND a parent (and was pretty clueless in both roles).
Plus, I keep having dizzy spells when my adrenaline kicks in, so that wasn't super helpful either.

But, it was a good chance to wrap my head around what this new little place we'll be is like. Most teachers have been there for decades (Donna, the director has been there for 44 years). Not only am I starting a little part time job here, it looks like it could be a place for me to be for a long time (Lord willing).

And with just trying to wrap my brain around this new job, I've sort of skipped over the milestone fact that Bode is starting school. And I feel guilty that I haven't given it much thought (Let's just say I'm not winning points with his teachers/also my coworkers because I'm already delinquent in my paperwork...etc...).

Here's his lovely new teachers..who really are so so sweet. I'm really excited for our little buddy..

Here's me with my new team

(here's my "I'm so uncomfortable and awkward so I can't stop giggling when I get my picture taken" photo for my new badge.) Badge. I have a badge!

And best of all...here's Bode new little school things.
I'm pretty excited for him to wear that little red shirt and carry that tote. I know he'll be in great hands.. xoxo

Emerson, Meet Bode's Swords

As we all know by now, Bode's love language is weaponry...swords to be exact.
So the minute that his dear, beloved Emerson sat down in our house, he started pulling out his swords for her left and right. It's actually funny because I believe the words I said to him was "let's find some good, soft toys for Emerson that aren't pointy."

I guess we'll have to work on his understanding of "baby toys."

But hey, she didn't seem to mind!

Okay, please notice Emerson's rockabilly headband.
It had me drooling.

Her mom is pretty much the coolest.
She dressed her in it because today was Emerson's dad's first day of school (teaching).

Then it was snack time.
Hey, sword fighting can really make a girl hungry, you know?

(Brooke, she was cracking me up with this tongue thing!)

Just another great day with our sweet baby friend Emerson.

xoxo
