Impossible...

The Pregnancy Diaries

Here are some things that have become impossible for me to do lately in my preggers state:

-bend down to put on my shoes

(or not pull a hamstring by contorting my body to try and do so myself!)

-shave my legs in the shower

-sleep the whole night without heartburn

-go a day without crying buckets (over some significant things, others not so much)

-go a day without thinking up some creative way of making the next seven weeks not seem so far away. For example, I've been counting down till June so I could say, "we're having a baby NEXT month!" (even though it's realistically TWO months away!). Or the classic, "we really only have to countdown to 37 weeks...and that's only five weeks away! And five weeks is really just like a month!"...you get the idea.

Here are some comments that are impossible know how to react to:

(and should NEVER be spoken to a pregnant woman!)

(stranger): "when are due? TOMORROW?!?!"

(me):

(crickets chirping...)

-OR-

(stranger): "when are you due?"

(me): "The end of July"

(stranger): "Woa, you still have a looong way to go!"

(me):

(in my head, of course)

Mimi...almost THREE!

Dear Mims,

You are ALMOST THREE YEARS OLD! (we talk about your birthday coming up all of the time by the way..even though we still have a good 2-3 months to go!).

Here are some things about you:

-You ADORE changing outfits constantly. You even picked this outfit out on your own before Livie's pool party. You wanted to wear flip flops like me because you wanted your shoes to make the "flip flop" sound

-You love doing ballet. If you watch Angelina Ballerina, you get off the couch and do everything she does

-You love collecting coins (mostly because then you get to use them to get little toys from "the machine!"). You are constantly dumping out your piggy bank (which drives me CRAZY!) and I'm always picking up pennies from the carpet...

-You can point out a few letters and it makes your literacy teacher mama so proud. I'm amazed every time you spot one somewhere (and even know the sounds of a few...but RANDOM letters...not a b or c...more like q and w!)

-You have definitely started throwing fits and I've had to carry you out of some places, kicking and screaming. We are quite a sight...pregnant mama and screaming child. You like things done a certain way, and then other times, there is just no answer or no pleasing you...reason leaves the building. But, we will get through it :)

-You are so excited to start preschool. You tell strangers that you're going to school constantly. If you have a PB sandwich, on multiple occasions you've told me to save it for when you go to school.. ;)

-You love to tell "funny stories." You've just started making up nonsense things that you think sound like a funny story. Your imagination is AT WORK!

-You are attached to the idea of "your little brother" in your mama's belly...you talk to him all the time, bring him things and kiss him. You make me tell him what you are doing constantly (for example: "mama, tell baby brother I have an owie" "tell baby brother I'm going to school.." etc...)

That's just a few things. I love your voice right now and I keep meaning to get out the video camera to capture it, because I know soon enough all of these little 2 1/2 yr. old things will be long gone.

Showered...

As I wrote that title I realized that it could mean two things. Either what I intended it to mean: that we had a wonderful shower at Ben's work, or that I actually showered (both events of note!) so read it how you want.

We DID have a shower at Ben's work this morning. It was so fun and sweet (I definitely wasn't expecting a shower this go round!)

We opened up some great gifts!!!!

Super amazing.

I really do feel like we've just been showered with blessings lately. It definitely makes me feel lucky and thankful. It also makes me want to pour out to others because we have so much...

PREGNANCY UPDATE:
We are at 31 weeks. I'm feeling a little more tired and big. Also, instead of a moving/kicking baby, I feel elbows and feet and Lord knows what else. That really is a crazy feeling to walk around with someone else's body parts pushing out all around... (just for a visual) This is happening as I type (and getting painful!!!) Hard to think that we have two months left!!!!

Heartburn is still a factor, but thanks to Pepcid AC, life is bearable!

I just cannot wait to hold this little guy. I feel like I know him and love him so much already. I find myself staring at his ultrasound picture every hour! I love his fuzzy hair and his sweet little nose and mouth that look so so familiar to me. Keep growing little guy!

My Quick Change Artist

Mimi LOVES to change her clothes.

It started with playing "dress up" in her princess costumes and has transitioned into pulling out every dress from her closet to wear in one day (and it HAS to be a dress!)

The best part is that she is getting really good at getting her own clothes on and off (even if they are on backwards most times) so I don't have to assist. But I do get tired of picking everything up in her wake (and if I don't pick it up, my very efficient husband assumes that when a piece of clothing is on the floor it's dirty!)

I know the days when this is all common place will pass, so I wanted to keep my camera close to me yesterday to capture just what goes on in a day.

These are clothes that I'm literally hiding on the clothesline because I know that if Mimi sees them, she will want to pull them down and wear them...ALL of them at one point in the day.
