Easter 2015 started like any other major holiday in our house: being woken up WAY too early by an excited six year old, and then running around the house with lots of stress. True story. Not proud of it. But leave it to holidays to make a family feel crunched.
-Get dressed (as in...get a whole family dressed)
-Make picnic grub that you signed up to bring
-pack for a whole day because you will be gone from your house from morning until night...
-put on your happy face and get to church.
In this case, we were way late to church. As in, we almost bagged it because there was so much shame in how late we were. But then we realized. No one cares. Only our pride. So we trudged on, bruised and frantic and hungry.
And as in all things like this, we were rewarded for going.
We sat in an empty NEW cry room and took a long deep breath. Our kids quietly listened to the sermon next to us (for two seconds. Then the oldest colored-not too bad on the parent scale. The youngest plugged into the phone-bad). But it was wonderful. We were filled with the reminder of what the day was really about...HOPE. We sang with our fellow church-goers and I got goosebumps on my cheeks it was so good. (Easter worship consistently gives me cheek goosebumps. Singing about our risen Savior who came for us to rescue us from our shortcomings and promised heaven to us...that's something to sing about :)

When you're this late to church, you may as well stop and take pictures...

After church it was onto Scot and Mara's to hang out with the "Rhodes" side of the fam :) It was hot, sunny and fun. We're grateful for our cousins that we love so dearly.
Connor and Lucas!
These two...Bode and Alden. They could be trouble someday. ;)
Then if they join up with the twins, it could be really bad.
Abby
These boys wonder why I always have a camera in their face...
Baby Ava
Boys, say CHEESE!
If Grandma was around, she'd call these boys "hoodlums."
Mimi and Gianna
Then it was time for the HUNT!
Awww...love all of these bunnies. Especially these ones...
Then Grandpa came!
The little kids got to go search for eggs first...
But the big kids weren't far behind..
Bode loves silver eggs. He's a pirate through and through...
Scot and I, taking pictures...
Thanks to our wonderful park hosts... :) Scot and Mara!

We loaded the Turrill clan up and headed for Lakewood to see Ben's side of the family after seeing mine. We wasted NO time getting in on another Easter egg hunt...
And Mimi even found an old Easter hat of her from at least four years ago at Andy's. Still fits!
(can you tell how tired this little boy is?)
Can you handle these little ladies?
(Bode and the girls :) That's how he rolls.
This was Bode's first time sitting at the "kids table." So pardon all of the pictures to commemorate it.
Bode was the only boy of the kids. You look at the pictures and tell me if you think he minds.
Then it was time for a group picture.
To me, the outtakes are the best.
(Andy and Fred's sweet, unsuspecting neighbors who just happened to walk by. They were "volun-told" to take this picture ;)
After the picture, dinner and the egg hunt, the kids explored the creek in the warm, evening sun. It was pretty much pure magic.
Before the kids would've liked, it was time to head home and say our goodbyes. Bode insisted on hugging Fiona.
Then all of the girls insisted on hugging him.

It had been a long, full day. The kids snoozed on the drive home. We had planned a little mountain getaway (and were ambitious enough to think we could add "packing for a week" and "taking our chiweenie" to our list of things that were making us crazy Easter morning...but we bagged it. And it was about at this time of the evening that I was supremely glad we did.
We went to sleep and woke up in our own beds and tackled our bathroom remodel that had been haunting us. We have since tiled, painted, sanded and repaired every inch of our 70's style kids bath. Not to mention planting flowers and sprucing up our abode. It was a good "stay cation" to have over spring break.
