Last night we went over to a friend's house (Hoostie's sister got married and they had a reception at the Glovers).
We went back and forth about going. So indecisive. First we RSVP'd "YES." Then, the thought of Ben driving home at 6, packing the kids up in the car dangerously close to bedtime to drive to Lafayette seemed daunting so we changed to a "NO." Then after a long day in the house, getting out seemed just right for our night, so I called Ben to say maybe we should go...are you starting to get the picture? ;)
After our friends the Boyles texted to see if we were coming, we decided to do it.
Friends are important, having fun experiences are important (and fill up my "quality time" meter), but there's a fine line between being social and running yourself (and family) ragged.
We were SO glad that we went, the kids did great (we always seem to expect the worst) and we had fun time with friends. It's times like these that we're reminded of how different our life would be if we were in fact in California. We may not feel so taxed and pulled in so many different directions, trying to please everyone in our life and keep up relationships with both family, close friends and even just acquaintances. But we may also feel lonely, DYING for someone to invite us somewhere, and starved for meaningful connections with friends. Or for someone to know you and the longevity of relationships.
So, with that in mind, we were extra thankful for our abundance of relationships, and didn't mind coming home a little tired, but full of a "good time had by all."
Here's our kiddos with the cutie Boyles:
(Mimi and McKenna are just a month or so apart, and Bode and Cooper are just three months apart. They were cute! And it was fun to drive into the old neighborhood I grew up in for 13 or so years. Mom, I ran into Lydia's parents!)
YAY for friends! (and future Buffs :)
