How This Wedding Will Be Different Than Most

My preschool mom friend just finished being in a wedding last week. It was a friend that's more of an acquaintance and we talked a lot about how crazy stressful it can be to be close to a wedding: the obligations, the horrible bridesmaid dresses, the bridezilla, the making wedding programs until midnight...the list goes on.

I could sympathize with her, but not empathize.

Because the wedding that we have coming up is soooooo different. The celebrations surrounding it are not forced. They are merely an outflow in expression of the deep joy and sheer happiness that we feel for the fact that my mom and Rodger found each other. To see them make each other whole, to have an environment that is surrounded in love and unconditionalness and sacrifice and tenderness. To LOVE being around them and LOVE having our kids be around them too. To see my mom find someone who she's deserved to have her entire life. Rodger and my mom respect and love each other in the highest degree and therefore this love is to be celebrated. Them becoming one in marriage marks a very special and sacred moment, and we're nothing short of honored to be a part of it.

We're anxiously anticipating every fun moment of pedicures and happy hours and wedding set up and especially the ceremony. It's a family affair and we couldn't be happier.

And speaking of all of that, a bridezilla my mom is not. I mean, what other bride would be so chill and supportive when you called them to tell them that you bought a box of hair dye and are deciding to try out auburn hair a few days before their wedding day? (That has some "Strawberry Shortcake" undertones??!?!). No one else that I know but my mom :)
